» Planet For $ale

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 29-10-21 19:50

Label: Disco Gecko Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: Electronic

On Disco Gecko, Mazlyn Jones unleashes the remix package of Planet For $ale, an ode to the dangers of climate change and the threats we, as a species, face. Remixes come from Dave Bliss, System 7, Banco de Gaia and Guy Evans.

The Original Mix is included and is a benign opus of hope. At 2 minutes long, its pretty short but it gets its message across. Remix-wise, its System 7's jittery techno rerub that tickles my tastebuds with Banco de Gaia, erstwhile proprietor of Disco Gecko, delivering my second favourite mix. System 7's mix is similar in scope to the remix they did for For Such A Time for Banco's Ollopa remix album but with a more techno edge to it amidst shuffling beats.

The other two mixes are fresh as a daisy and follow the path set out by the original mix. Of these mixes, its the Dave Bliss mix that entices the most. Guy Evans finishes the set. The package is quite well structured with the track's core message coming through on all the mixes.
