» Jig Reel and Rave

Label: Disco Gecko Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: Electronic

Maverick producer dr trippy drops his latest on Banco de Gaia's Disco Gecko imprint. Its a tale of reggae-influenced electronica and is perfect for a Saturday night jigathon at the local watering hole.

This guy's been on my radar for a while. Mainly due to his remixes of Banco de Gaia himself on Igizeh and The Magical Sounds Of Banco de Gaia. His EPs have also been on rotation too.

With Jig Reel and Rave, he's delved into his electronica top hat and pulled out some right rave bangers. Whether they'll be everyone's cup of tea is up for discussion but for me, at least, its an adventure I'm willing, more than willing, to take on. The mixture of gypsy-folk and rave is an interesting choice but it shows the diversity of the artist not sticking to one particular style.

Of the tracks on here, its the first track Temperance that gets me moving. But to be honest, all the tracks on here are firing. Grab his other stuffs as well. You won't regret. Natch.
