I moved simply from 'Mummy' to 'Mum' but nowadays I tend to call her 'Ma'

It really ooks me out when I hear grown ups calling their folks Mummy and Daddy. Prince Charles did it at the concert, I'm not sure why but it's just feels totally and utterly inappropriate.

I always called my parents mummy and daddy because mum and dad was reserved for my grandparents on my mum's side. I imagine my older brother started it when he heard my mother talking to her parents.
Anyway, i hear you about Charles, although i do beleive he was being deliberately 'endearing', we now call our dad Big Merv (after the cricketer), and my mum, 'Momma' or 'Ma' or whatevs. I still might call her 'Mummy' very rarely but don't think about it. I certainly wouldn't use it in public though, sounds a bit silly. Always has on account of so many people being gay about it.

Your Dad s nicknamed after Merv Hughes? That's awesome. We used to call my Dad Homer.
I just call Mum "Ma".
On a side note, all my family either call me Fat Man or Greasey Pigeon.
Life is far too important to be taken seriously
