Solar Storm keep the classics coming with a new remix package for Flesh by Jan Johnston. 12 remixes in all, some new, some classic, some unheard. So hold on to your hats cos its time for a trip down memory lane.
Being given the 2019 treatment, Flesh resurfaces with a full deluxe widescreen edition with a fresh batch of new versions. Genix, Paul Hawcroft, Chris Salt and Orkidea are all on hand to bring the noise. Also included is the original mix, which hasn't been heard for ages. All the tracks have been remastered for 2019 so they all sound fresh. Fresh Flesh. Hahahaha. Ahem...
Genix, Paul Hawcroft, Chris Salt, Simon McCann and Orkidea provide the versions that I'm most interested in; particularly the two Genix mixes. The rawness of the main Genix mix is epic, almost feral in poise. The alternate version of the mix is more benign. The Paul Hawcroft mix is the one for me though: beautiful in stature and sound, it rivals the Tilt mix of the original release all those years ago on Perfecto. In fact, the bass-line has a Perfecto-esque sound to it. Nice.
Special mention goes to the Orkidea mix. Before his sound became harder and deeper, the Finnish producer was more relaxed in his producing, less...I dunno, angry? That's probably doing him a disservice but I like his cuddly side. This is nice, energetic, trance. Melodic and cool.
You need these mixes. Seriously. More classics reimagined please, Solar Storm! Simon's mix is also bonzer. Natch!
