So, im being made redundant at the end of November and plan to get out the country for December (no need for any aaaww's tho, i cant wait to take the redundancy money and get out!)

Im looking at heading to Thailand with a mate for 3 weeks, maybe 4, including over Christmas. Then planning to come back and head off somewhere else for NY with the missis.

As its only going to be a 4 - 7 day trip, unless I can persuade her to sack of her relatives for Xmas and we do a 2 week holiday instead, long haul is pretty much ruled out.

Top ideas for destinations so far are Iceland, Prague, Moscow, Lapland or a ski resort (prob Meribel). Any one experienced NYE in any of these places or can offer suggestions as to where else to go?

Cheersthankyouverymuch Smile

I have done a New Years in the French Alps.

To be fair New Years is the same everywhere, its who you are with that makes the difference.

I just learnt how to give myself a signature - 27/08/09 - bear (member for just over 2 years)

Meribel would be a great laugh for NYE, the bars are wicked there normally so i'd imagine that NYE would be a riot.

I spend every other Christmas up in Lapland so can fully recommend it, it wouldn't be as busy as the other locations you've listed but the mixture of snow, vodka and the promise of Northen lights make for a great atmosphere

Probably at a house party, or maybe Ministry of Sound/Fabric. Not sure what they've got on yet. Scratches Chin

Agreed Meribel is a good time and im sure NYE would be even better.

Not as busy was the appeal of Lapland, more chilled from what we've read and something a bit different.
