The houses all looked like they came from an episode of Grand Designs.

OK, only two months late, but I finally watched the final episode. Excellent stuff, very well done, and so utterly plausible. Yeah, it was a bit bleak. A friend of mine (she hadn't seen any of them) sat down to watch it on Xmas day with her new boyfriend and it was so the wrong thing to watch at that time.
