Otto K

» A Strange Dream

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 29-08-23 12:31

Label: Lost Language
Format: Digital
Genre: Progressive / Trance

The essence of mystery. That is the ethos behind Lost Language. A lone cube in a room full of mainly uninteresting artefacts and structures. The cube is multi-facated; be it trance, progressive or even psychedelic. Don't open the cube lest you be pulled into its chaotic electronic world.

That's my best opening. It describes the nature of Otto K's "A Strange Dream" aptly. Two originals and two remixes adorn this one and its as multi-facated as the EL-EL cube itself. Remixes come from Tim French and Inside Blur. The infinite space of the cube is clear with both progressive and trance covered in these two productions and their adjacent remixes.

For me, its both the Tim French remix and the Inside Blur remix that intrigue. The Pod remix by Tim French is interesting, not least because it was mastered using AirPods. Its as solid as can be with its progressive nature shining in the darkness. The original is funky too.

With the Inside Blur remix of Duplicity, the cube takes on a trance format. This is proper EL-EL trance of the highest order; one that can adorn an Exhibition album or sampler. With remixes of the recent LostLegend track coming forthwith, EL-EL continues to open its puzzle box to the world.
