Nelly The Elephant and We Will Rock You are the two best songs for getting a rhythm going.

I bet there are some people who would sit there & sing that trying to revive the person but without the cpr!!

I can not imagine what it must be like to be in the situation you were in Claire but you did well, you saved his life Heartbeat

I haven't been on a first aid course since i was about 14 so definatly feel the need to do a refresher soon as.

Having to do CPR on someone scares the hell out of me even more now.

Well the first thing most people do in these situations is panic, especially if it is a loved one or close friend.
You did really well, give yoyrself a massive pat on the back, it's nice to know I have mates who know what they are doing.. need to just make sure you are to hand at the time teehee Wink

Hmm, so the key thing is to look out for pain in the chest and arm, I presume (from films Blush) it's the left??

And then be dogmatic about treatment and make sure you get checked out.

Well, glad it worked in this case and good luck for the future Hugs

Numbness, pain or tingling in the left arm, shortness of breath and chest pain are things to look out for. Also greyness of face, blue lips, cold sweat along with chest pain are other symptoms.

BTW, they changed the CPR method, instead of doing 15 pumps and two breaths, they now think it is more important to keep the blood pumping so it's better to do 30 pumps then breathe. Nelly The Elephant and We Will Rock You are the two best songs for getting a rhythm going.

Addendum - and push down as hard as possible while pumping as you need to pump through that massive piece of bone in front of the heart. Bruised ribs are the least of their worries.

Also a move afoot to increase public awareness on how to use the defibrillators stationed around.
