Label: The Village Records / Spectral Records
Format: Digital/CD
Genre: Full On Twilight Psychedelic Trance

For those of you living in South Africa or familiar with the Cape Town psy trance scene, these guys need no introduction... But I'll give them one anyway Smile

Biorhythm is the combined artist project of Kieron Grieve and Carl Sharples. They have been demolishing dancefloors with their own brand of hi-tech, energetic twilight style trance for a number of years now. They regularly headline events both in South Africa and abroad and are both highly accomplished artists in their own right; Kieron as Rubix Qube and Carl as.Luna.

I'd been looking forward to hearing the finished album for a while now and this one truly lives up to expectations. Everything about the finished product just oozes class - from the beautiful fractal cover artwork (designed by Kieron's brother Stuart) to the high end cutting edge production showcased from beginning to end.

We start with the first of the nine tracks on offer - the title track Divine Geometry. A perfect track to kick start the album and nicely setting the scene for things to come with eerie soundscapes, detuned creepy leads and crisp percussion all sitting on top of a chunky rolling bassline.

Track 2 is my personal favourite, R2Detune. A killer track that means business from the very start. The track starts off with some slightly irregular phrasing but don't let that put you off. This is extreme peak time material that captures the very essence of 3am on a summer's night at a trance party in the mountains somewhere near Cape Town. As soon as the breakdown and subsequent drop materialise you'll see why!

Track 3, Sing Scarper is a monster of a tune that starts off quite slowly but builds and builds, getting groovier until a haunting yet beautiful melody filters through and rips the whole thing apart. This track will truly suck you in and leave you begging for more.

Track 6 is Aweh a track that has some serious balls! A tough as f**k bassline gets it started with nasty detuned sawtooth leads fighting to escape the track at every given opportunity. Peak time stuff that will annihilate a dancefloor every time.

Synchronicity is track number seven, kicking off as per usual with a fat rolling bassline and some extra crunchy percussion. This track has a very catchy lead that will leave you humming it for the rest of the day!

Honourable mentions to all of the other tracks on the album. It is very rare to find an album that you truly can't fault. Biorhythm have managed to capture the very essence of their particular niche in the scene and this album is a shining example of why the South African psy trance scene is considered one of, if not the best on the planet. An absolute must have!
