You never thank me when I do something nice.

Maybe because the ratio of good to bad is skewed the wrong way and you owe them more apologies than they owe you thanks.

Police admit they may have to work with "paedophile hunters" after figures obtained by the BBC revealed a rise in their evidence being used in court.

Figures show 11% of court cases in 2014 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for the crime of meeting a child after sexual grooming used vigilante evidence, rising to 44% in 2016.

2014: 20 out of 176 cases
2015: 77 out of 256 cases
2016: 114 out of 259 cases

One thing stands out, the police are woefully inadequate when it comes to tacking this or they'd have their own hunters.

And I suspect this translates to a wider lack of expertise and experience of policing the web, all too often I see reports of fraud and the police response is to refer the victim to their bank.

I still very much follow a large amount of these hunter groups and some of them are so professional with pretty much 100% conviction rate. So say what you will but we need these groups as the numbers don't lie, they are making a positive impact and with the limited police resource, these guys are needed. People bury their heads in the sand but with the rise of social media, there is a fucking epidemic. During the school holidays I was able to watch up to 5-7 Live stings a day from various groups. Its bloody scary but these groups are doing a good thing for us and the police are starting to come round to the fact that they are doing a brilliant job!

I see where you're coming from, someone needed to do something, but I do think this should be handled by the police or similar authorities - CEOPS for example.

It shouldn't be left to unregulated groups who make money from their stings.

See, this is the thing. EVERY TIME they go on a sting, the police are informed of the meeting place before they meet a paedo, every time. Its what I mean about professionalism. They then have a file already printed off of all the chat logs (some of the shit these nonces say is absolutely disgusting) so its pretty much fool proof. They are super professional and refuse to take money from anyone. They are modern day crime fighters IMO and now the stats are showing that they are helping the police who are stretched

Not sure if I can post this in this forum - tell me if I need to remove it but this is a classic sting. Guy tried to worm his way out of it and gets nailed and comes cleans
