Solarstone ft. Lucia Holm

» The Last Defeat Pt II (Sam Laxton Remix)

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 24-02-24 17:58

Label: Pure Breaks
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance / Breaks

Casting back to the original Rain Stars Eternal album and a remix of The Last Defeat from Sam Laxton. This time, its not a straight up trance mix. Its a ferocious breakbeat assault which combines the energy of trance with fractured breaks.

At 9 minutes, this is no slouch. Firing on all cylinders, it utilises the vocals of Sunscreem's Lucia Holm to great effect; turning out a vocal mix of epic proportions. This track was on Pure Trance 10 but its now here in full. There's also an edit too.

Its very different from the usual I Like It Pure output but that is a good thing cos you have the trance stuff on the main label. The last Breaks release was Escape by Adam Nickey. Will that track also get a remix? I don't rightly know but for now, Sam Laxton's mix of The Last Defeat is anthemic, heavy and has lots of oomph. If you're a Solarstone aficionado, you need this in your life. The energy never relents once it gets going and the structure is fairly good. I'm impressed.
