Tis’ a very nice piece of kit indeed but not without some very minor niggles
Having the play / stop/ rec buttons right next to the crossfader is going to lead to a lot of people ending their sets suddenly. I’ve unmapped them completely to make sure it doesn’t happen but it’s not the best solution.
The upfaders don’t register if they are all the way down when you start, so if you start a track with the fader all the way down it plays at full volume. To get round it all you have to do is make sure the fader is slightly off the bottom when you start a session. which is not really a problem but it’s something you have to remember while playing, which isn’t ideal.
The track selection button doesn’t automatically bring up the waveform that is playing in that track, again just a case of remapping the button, but I’d expect it to be the default behaviour.
I’m also missing having knobs for Low /mid /high in order to blend the transitions but that’s just me and I’m sure I can remap what’s there to allow me to do it.
Overall though it is a great piece of kit which keeps your head out of the Laptop and was the catalyst for me looking at Ableton a lot more seriously.
Upcoming sets:
17th Dec - PRS for Music Hall of Fame British Music Experience, @ The O2, Greenwich, London
