I'm trying to record a live dj mix for the past couple of weeks at the club i play and the mixer is an allan and heath mixer.

The record line is coming out of a record booth with no indapendant gain control (i.e. if the gain controls are running to hot on each channel then the record out is too high.)

I've tried - system preferences on my mac and turning the input right down even to min and its still to loud coming into logic.

I turned down the channel and the master, but still with no joy as the recording is coming in distorted and loud.

I could quickly turn down the gain on the channel and then boost the master on the mixer but messing with the mixer settings just before playing aint a good idea..

Any ideas? Bangs Head

Absolute carnage!!!!!!!!!!

I figured it out!!!!

Stupid mac settings and i knew it would be something simple. System preferences - sound - input AND OUTPUT volume BOTH affect an input recording signal!!! WTF??Clever Clogs

When trying to record last I turned the line input on my mac right the way down and the out put was about half.

I just replicated a loud input signal by recording from itunes to logic with itunes volume full crank and eq gain maxed out and played around with everything until i discovered it.

Who thought an output could affect an input recording signal!?? blah! Scratches Chin

Absolute carnage!!!!!!!!!!

I hate that mixer! I have never liked that model for playing techno on, and the way it is installed in the booth makes it nearly impossible to setup any external system (Serato / Traktor etc.) - I just take vinyl when I'm playing there now

Silence is never neutral.
