How would you deal with a situation at work where you're effectively doing two important jobs at the same time and being underpaid for it?

What kind of psychological impact would this have on you over a protracted period, would you still act the same as before or would you be unable to contain your frustration at the situation and start to show annoyance?

Now obviously the first port of call is to arrange a meeting to discuss the situation in the hopes of fixing the problem but outside of that I'm interested to see what impact this type of situation has on various people and how they'd handle their emotions.

Check out the music productions on my Soundcloud page if you dare!

For a while I'd put up with it and learn something that hopefully I could use in the future, for me as I work shot term contracts these situations aren't as bad as long as whatever extra duties you do are acknowledged in the future.

I wouldn't put up with it, never have.

Find another job and secure it then tell your employer you're going, if you're really valuable enough to them they'll give you an offer you can't refuse, or you'll leave to work somewhere better and more appreciative.

I've never really been in that position as my pay has always been pretty directly linked to my performance. If I were in your position I would raise the issue. If you feel you are indispensable then you can make the more aggressive play of working to your contract.

Life is far too important to be taken seriously

Only because it's something that will never, EVER apply to you.

One thing about being indispensible - sure, you can't be fired, but you probably won't be promoted either. Tell them how you feel and say that if you are not properly compensated then, as Hanky says, work to rule. If they change your contract without changing your pay grade, you have the right to dispute or call a tribunal with HR.
