There's a difference between being willing to take on more, and being given more to take on whether or not you like it and not having a choice. And not saying anything about it means it will keep happening. By all means take on more, I agree - but don't get screwed over.

"Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?"
"I'm not sure that man needs the help." (Calvin & Hobbes)

I am with Donnie. Do a year minimum before you start giving it the big I am.

I third this. You have to prove your value to a company before you can start asking for a pay rise. As it is you've only been there 9 months so threatening to leave is hardly going to have them quaking in their boots thinking they can't replace you. Everyone is replaceable. If, however you believe you're worth more somewhere else then by all means start looking. There may be something out there that is more up your street.

Music I made

And I'm just highlighting that saps like you will keep being taken advantage of and thinking it's ok. That old adage of "can't be replaced, can't be fired" also translates to "can't be replaced, won't be promoted".

Saps like me? I got promoted.

Yeah. My way of thinking is totally the wrong way

Everyone is replaceable.

That

The question for a manager is will it cost more (not just financially) to keep you than replace you.

There's nothing wrong with you that reincarnation won't cure.

I most definitely have proved my value in terms of sorting out and improving the mess that was their IT infrastructure as well as maintaining it properly as it should have always been, which on it's own normally would be enough but on top of this I have a whole bunch of finance admin to do.

IT support, especially if you're the only member of that department isn't as it's depicted on the IT Crowd, where you just sit around fobbing people off all the time and fucking around avoiding work. I enjoy that side of my job and am a very motivated and capable employee (as has been pointed out on numerous occasions by staff at various levels here who have even gone as far to tell me I'm the best they've ever had).

It's only when I feel taken advantage of that I start to voice concerns like the ones raised here, that's the bottom line really. I feel taken advantage of and I'm pretty sure a lot of you would too, it's easy to sit there and accuse me of being a wingebag, which is exactly why I expressed interest in seeing how others would feel or handle the situation.

Check out the music productions on my Soundcloud page if you dare!

You are a whinebag.
I'd laugh if they took all this extra responsibility away from you, gave it to someone else and watch them get promoted

I expected no less from you.

You and I are so entirely different I wonder why you even bothered offering your opinion.
