There is a really good one in Shoreditch run by one of the women from London Ink, I Love Good Times , very cool studio and bloody good artists
http://ilovegoodtimes.co.uk/
Quin, that's Nicole Lowe you're talking about & you're looking at a two year waiting list; she only takes on new clients with major pieces that she's interested in who want Japanese-style. Nick Horn at the same studio also has about a 5 month waiting list.
Macavity: Most good artists are booked up well in advance however - it's best to check them/the studio out on Twitter as most of them will tweet on the day/day before if they've had a cancellation and will take walk-ins. I would also suggest actually phoning and explaining the situation.
Recommendations in London:
I Love Good Times, Shoreditch - as above
Frith Street Tattoo
Into You
The Family Business
Jolie Rouge
ceekay - Laura/acidbunny doesn't tattoo, she pierces - but owns her own studio in Southampton with some excellent artists, Pete Belsen and Alex.
