The best pop night in the whole of the land is back in Manchester, on the 12th June for an evening of musical and competitive glee.
Popstars, X-Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, My Mates’ Think I’m Hilarious Please Put Me on the Telly – we can’t get enough of these shows can we? Watching people like us (well, to some extent; they have faces, eyes etc) getting up on stage and showing the world their secret skills usually hidden behind their desk at a call centre.
We’ve taken a leaf out of their books here at Guilty Pleasures, but are going one better. This month at Manchester Guilty Pleasures we will be launching a competition of sheer effing brilliance, where you – the talented soul, singing in your bedroom to your soft toys every evening - can step on to the majestic Deaf Institute stage and show the world the power of your lungs!
Yes dear friends, we are linking up with SingStar once more for a summer like no other. All you have to do is step onto the SingStar stage and sing and if you’re as good as your teddies think, you’ll be in the running to win some spectacular prizes including VIP tickets to top UK festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival and Camp Bestival, SingStar goodies, PlayStation 3s and some rather excellent cakes. All sounds rather good non?
Not only will we be offering this, but at our triple-decker-do we’ll be welcoming in local friends from down the road, Bad Dancer, making those with no sense of rhythm, a hallowed space to just let their flailing limbs go wild to some top pop. And on the top floor will be your resident DJs Anna Greenwood and Jane Weaver, with their musical selection from the wonderful world of Guilty Pleasures.
And if that wasn’t enough spring is officially here! Goodbye chilblains, misery, general doom; hello new born lambs, sunshine, sockless footwear and Easter eggs. It’s the greatest time of our lives. So join us and sing for summer! Sing for spring! Just sing goddamnit, SING!
