Jay C vs. The Rock Steady Crew

» Hey You

Label: Nebula
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: House/ Electro House

Space Ibiza Resident Jay C gets down and dirty on the re-rub with break dancing act The Rock Steady Crew taking the 1983 hit and mashing it up into the modern age, which so far has received attention from Morillo, Fedde Le Grand, Trent Cantrelle and a whole host more big players.

Mixes from Beatfreaks, Friendly and Martin Ten Velden head up the package and to be honest, I’m not that drawn to them all, with the exception of Martin Ten Velden, of who simply supplies the best remix. The original mixes will no doubt gain a vast commercial appeal and with a cool video you’ve got a widespread hit on a large popular and catchy track.

Martin Ten Velden takes the track deeper, overhauling it, and making it have a greater club bass and much larger sound. Less vocal is used which helps keep the energy going, making it have a better flow and build up into the deep electro styled bass and as usual from Martin, that’s the killer part. We do get the main loop used but at the breakdown and it does work, this is by far the superior mix and has a lot more effort behind it and Martin has picked up on the need to really bring the track up to date for the dance floor.
