» The Mash Up Mix 2007 – Mixed By The Cut Up Boys

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 10-05-07 10:29

Label: Ministry Of Sound
Format: 2 x CD
Genre: Commerical Dance/ House/ Trance

The vast machine that is Ministry Of Sound continues to throw out the compilations like there going out of fashion, and we get treated to another instalment of the Mash Up Mix from those Cut Up Boys. Whilst this wont be the average discerning clubbers choice of tune selection, there’s plenty of groovy popular tracks spread across 2 CD’s.

Jam packed with mashed up re interpretations of anything and everything from Fatboy Slim to Fedde Le Grand to Mauro Picotto all the way up to Marco V! Using dance with classic pop, R&B, trance and whatever takes their fancy such as Eric Prydz, Sharam, Mason Vs Princess Superstar, Cascada and Beatfreakz- to Seamus Hajii’s ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ ‘Walking On The Moon’, ‘Dirty Cash’ and ‘Gay Bar’

This sort of album, by default, always stirs up the most hardened clubber with the “I can’t believe they’ve done that to that… it’s a classic!”. I suppose this is intended for a different end of the market simply by its nature, or maybe the more fun end of the spectrum. It’s amazing to see the sheer number of tracks included, and indeed, the accapella’s used to weigh them up for a different take on the original mixes used. In short its marmite, love it, hate it, its up to you!
