Niels De Vries

» Funky Town

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 26-11-07 15:09

Label: Zzap
Format: CD
Genre: Electro House

Sampling the classic “Funky Town” by Lipps Inc, Niels De Vries delivers a quirky stabby electro driven take on things.

The Original “Funky Town” is a cool catchy lick of a track, and Niels De Vries has taken the loop and pounded a dirty dark grinding electro bass and banging house beat behind it. If you like the sample of the hook, then it could be an infectious dance floor winner for you, however, if you don’t, then it may seem an odd track to take for the update and a bit to cheesy electro house that’s not really everyone’s cup of tea. I didn’t really think it did that much and probably would have been better off making it into a funk driven house track than electrofied.

Zzap's A+R policy is awful, I got nothing but rubbish from them to review.
