Moguai

» Kick Out The Jams

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 03-05-08 14:29

Label: iO Music
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: Electro, House, Techno

The ever talented Moguai can be found working with pop megastars to remixing dance acts such as 2Raumwohnung, Fischerspooner and Meat Katie and fresh for 2008 Kick Out The Jams is the first of two exclusive singles to be taken from his forthcoming mix album I am X.

The Original is a cool slice of broken beats layered with an electro slanted tinge. A deep breaks sounding bass has a real depth to the feeling and then a distorted vocal hits you. Added extra sounds and effects that build and screech with a solid effect.

Punx start the remixes off and a good off at that by any standard with a constant nagging use of the bass and a crunchy drum loop and a electronica aspect thrown in the pot. Wobbling the sounds up a gear it’s a tough aggressive and hitting re work. Suspended you until the drop and then it goes into a deep dark journey, an essential mix to have.

Style of Eye continues down the dark path with a glitchy deep sinister edged version. Using the vocal for a full tripped out effect its filtered and packed with lots of intense edges that all work in conjunction as one and produce a really effective mix for the headstrong out there that has a underpinning of techno I felt.

Wally Lopez goes for tech house all the way and crunchy clicky sounds with a late night stripped back version. Peak time big room and sweaty floors will love this version. Manuel Tur finishes it all off with a laid back chilled atmospheric minimal proggy slanted mix with electronic elements thrown in but more for the head and less for the feat.
