Jake Island Ft. Ray Saint-Ville

» Real Love

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 22-01-09 14:00

Label: Toolroom Records
Format: CD
Genre: House

Taken from his sublime debut album Jake Island delivers an awesome second single in the form of Real Love. Utilizing the vocal talents of Ray Saint-Ville to keep the output as high as possible and backed with extra mixes from Rocco and Manuel Da La Mare, this is quality house music.

Jake’s Original is an emotional deep houser and French Rocco picks up on this to supply the first remix which continues the emotional and deep vibe created but aimed straight at the dance floor. With a dub also provided and a Beats and Strings mix its bumpy traditional house through and through.

Manuel Da La Mare uses a more deep stab with heavier percussion and has a chunky groove solidly moving things forward. Swishes and deep effects lay down a footprint for a more tribal lick and modern house edged groove. I however preferred the Dub from Manuel as the sparse vocal use made the moving touching vibe more prominent I felt. It’s a nice soulful based track from Toolroom that gives off a different mood and direction and brings in different artists to the roster for a interesting route.
