An incredibly alluring and suggestive title opens up for M1ndfunk who serve up there debut EP on Australian Destination? That has artists such as Calvertron on their roster, so a great start by any means.
A very open and insightful quote on their Myspace reads “I wonder what I'm doing here, Jet jazzed underneath my skin. Listening to these fucking tunes all over me. I like to sleep all day and stay out all night. The idea of a straight job, Is like the idea of a straight jacket. I like expensive clothes, Eating in expensive restaurants. Bit of a champagne slut you could say. I'm pretty. Sexy... Intelligent... Sarcastic and selfish. This is my shit. Your thrill. So listen to my fuckn tunes... and say "m1ndfuk me"...”
So what do we get?
My Sh+t Your Thrill is like a sunny day wondering around tripped out on some high spirited fashion with weird noises, bleeps, cuckoo clocks samples and techy bass that sits restfully on a male deep voice blurred into the background of the soundscape. Chilled and laid back as well as slowly dirty, it’s a clever and interesting track to open with.
All Over Me is a subdued deep snappy refreshing bubbly effected track with more weird tripped out sounds and effects and noises that seem to work, just randomly when you first hear them. A better female vocal lifts the track up half way through and talks you through an obscure journey.
Jet Jazzed uses a tech house and minimal styled outing with its bass and rider sound. More deeper clattering sounds and larger pick up s rock it out a wee bit more in a pensive way for a interlude into some long effects and high pitched up vocal sample that gains momentum, a weirdly insightful EP.
