Paul Oakenfold & Baby E

» Shine On (Remixes)

Label: Perfecto
Format: Digital
Genre: Dance / Trance

On to the main Perfecto imprint now and the new one by Paul Oakenfold & Baby E. This one includes remixes from Paul Oakenfold & Mark Roma and Glynn Alan. Is it any good? Well, first of all, its fair to say that Oakey is a legend in electronic music, particularly trance music.

But this release is more commercial than Oakey's more trancefloor-friendly tunes. Its more accessible, in that respect, but saying that, the Oakenfold/Roma mix hits hard with pulsing bass-lines and thumping beats. Its also dayglo in scope, with a hard-edged shell around it with Baby E's vocals piercing it. Its definitely worth a look.

Glynn Alan deals out a peak-time trance driver that toughens things up considerably. Its not rampant trance; no, its more benign but its still monstrous. The vocals are present and correct, encircling the beats and bass-lines. Glynn's mix is another example as to why he's worked with the likes of Pure Trance, Defcon and, of course, the Perfecto imprint. Glynn's mix is the one I'm plumping for on this one.
