If you are already hitched, share with us the details of when/where/how? If not, how would you like this event to be staged?

Was he drunk/drugged up to his eyeballs and not thinking or speaking straight? Was it under the stars and moonlight on a idyllic beach, with the ring secreted at the bottom of a glass of champagne? Were you up the duff and your parents would kill him if he didn't? Or, did you think you should sit and have a frank discussion before reaching the mutually acceptable conclusion vis a vis the tax benefits and other equitable consequences?

I can't imagine ever getting married, as it's an amazingly assured step to take. There's no way you've found the best person for you, so you must be settling. Plus there's no way you will both grow in the same way, at the same rate, as you get older. So for most of your life you'll be making compromises and left stuck with a silver medal solution.

But that aside, any proposal would have to be in the form of talking about the possibility and agreeing, rather than some stupid will she/won't she spectacle.

With a knife to the throat.

On a serious note, no real proposal, we decided mutually after some discussion that it wasn't fair on our planned child not to be married. This was 30 years ago. The day itself was very romantic though.

Are you planning something Andrew?

I obviously know alot about marrage proposals......how does that saying go? always the ring designer, never the bride!

One of the guys I did a ring for had a special place in a park they used to walk in alot when they first go together. He'd sorted to have it all lit up with lights and candles and a bottle of champaign etc and their friends to be round a corner with drinks and stuff.
He proposed, she said yes and then they went round and drank with all their best friends.

If the ilana vs DMX debacle can STFU for a minute...

I'd take her to her fave resturant and ask her quietly.

Whilst, of course, getting the cctv guy to film her and then post the happy moment on youtube.

Well, there's being totally in love and knowing that you would be so happy to spend the rest of your life with them, which doesn't really make it settling. You are only speaking from your perspective of the world/people/relationships, which thankfully isn't the same as others'. I know you've had this discussion before, so it might be best to leave it.

Personally, I like the idea of a romantic proposal somewhere really ace/awesome. But I certainly wouldn't spring the concept on someone without first being sure it was a 'yes' but it would certainly still be something of a surprise.
