» Arrakis

Label: Pure Trance Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

For those familiar with Dune, Arrakis is the name of a planet in the film, and the book, where spice, a psychedelic compound, is mined. In music, however, dance music, Arrakis was already covered on Pure Progressive by Forerunners and Mike Isai. But that was Progressive. This is Arrakis from the Pure Trance side of things. And it features a remix by Scott Cameron.

Although this is deep melodic trance, its still very much Pure Trance. Its as barren as the desert sands of Arrakis itself. But just because its barren, that doesn't mean its completely empty. Swirling melodies and an insistent bass-line carry this one for 9 minutes. Just try and avoid the sandworms. In all seriousness, this is deep and melodic and at 130bpm, its quite leisurely but still very dancey.

Scott Cameron provides the remix and this is where Arrakis shines. As the moon rises and the temperature drops, the true beauty of the desert comes through. It continues the voyage of the original but at a faster pace with more urgency about it. For me, its the remix that edges it but the Original is majestic too.
