Adam Freeland

» The Hate EP

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 16-01-08 19:04

Label: Marine Parade
Format: CD
Genre: Breaks, Tech Funk

His first release on his own imprint in over 2 years, and what a fine return! The Hate EP has a full throttle approach from the genre busting Adam Freeland whom in 2007 dropped some serious bombs and remixes.

Where does Hate start? Well for Adam, a blistering dirt tech funk bass laden monster broods and glitches the speaker that’s where. With a simple vocal and some stuttering and letting the beats and bass do the talking it’s a fired up effort with jam packed energy throughout and non stop relentless pace. A great start to the EP.

“Where’s Your God Now” opts for a slower tempo track, but not one that sits on its laurels in any shape or form. A kind of dirty punk-out rocky number with a cool ass funky beat, its cranking dubby dance at its best. “Glowsticks” closes the EP with a synthy glitch laden acidic edged bassline for lifting the dance floor up higher and higher every time. It menaces the speaker and has an explosive atmosphere. A great triumphant return for Freeland.
