First State

» Your Own Way

Label: In Trance We Trust
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: Trance

Fresh from there previous hit “Falling” First State is back again with a vocal led trancer featuring the vocal talents of Elliot Johns. To some male vocals don’t mix well and falls into the marmite of love or hate, I find, if produced well they can work very effectively. The Original mix has a subtle gentle tone with a progressive and uplifting trance edge. A piano breakdown really touches your spirit and refreshes the soul and utilizes a funky drum loop into Elliot’s vocals which then work perfectly. The energy levels are worked to great effect and a lasting impression is made.

First State provide a Pounding Club mix that has a more cutting driving synth line throughout that acts as the instigator for a tougher later night arrangement. It flows nicely and winds down into the breakdown which has a carving switch when it all kicks back in with a kind of techy trance swish.

Finishing the package off they also fit in an Analog Reconstruction which has a more Rocky-Trance feeling and style to its genre. Using slightly different and highly effective parts from the Original mix works in its favour and gives a somewhat easy listening version.
