» Dirty Volum

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 19-11-08 11:57

Label: Avanti
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance, Tech Trance

A fresh new collaboration between Sied van Riel, Dj Le Blanc, Marius Andresen and Therese Hammergren named after the "Dirty Volum" party in Olso.

The Original has an interesting start with introduction of a bass and deep dark drums and fills that utilize a cool sounding flow with a still pumping energy to it. At first you think it maybe going to use a minimal approach, wrong, lots of large swishes, turns and big synthy bass charge in and act as a massive march leaping into a almost electro-esque breakdown with haunting deep effects and delays, its good stuff. There is also a Vocal cut of the original mix which uses a female spoken word from and does work, but the tracks so good it probably doesn’t need it to be honest.

DJ Le Blanc keeps in tune with the ethos from before, and goes downright filthy with a snappy use of the female vox sample and continuation of the techy tough rugged beats but a bit more reduced in some ways until later on when it really develops, but a strong alternative mix.

Lemon & Einar K opt for a more trance and uplifting mix with a far more melodic running theme and less of the dirty-ness. Whilst it was nice I felt against the previous two mixes it was over shadowed.
