Rob Roar & Felix Baumgartner

» Slam 303

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 07-12-08 14:23

Label: Phonetic Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: House, Tech House

Felix and Rob return after the successful first collaboration “The Beat” which garnered high level support and No.2 on both Music Week and DMC Buzz Charts.

After a busy summer for Rob on the infamous ‘We Love Space’ terrace djing, Slam 303 has been road tested to only the best crowds including Manumission, Miss Moneypennys & Bora Bora.

Starting things off is a steady chunky marching drum and spooky vocal sample that launches into a bubbling tech house bass and then takes you on a trip back to the getting on down to acidic beats in the warehouse days. The deepness of the bass and swishes creates a smooth rolling motion forward that’s totally reminiscent and quite pensive as well. Catchy lines nag the mind and take the track onwards to the break where the mood gradually glides up and marches to a restless beat.

Daley Padley provides the remix and gets deep for the late night dark and dingy floors. Quite a snappy punchy kick drives the flow and looping of the spooky and eerie vocal sample continues with a more high octane approach and grooving bass. It has a different intensity compared to the original mix and is a little more heads down no messing with more sparkling touches and future looking mindset.
