» Clap, Snare, Repeat

Reviewed by Greg Zizique / Submitted 26-03-09 20:45

Label: Cr2
Format: Digital
Genre: Tech House

Stu has firmly established himself in recent times with his conscientious approach to the biz with djing, remixing and producing. A mass of underground hits and gems across a plethora of labels have cemented a solid reputation.

Landing on Cr2 with Clap, Snare, Repeat you can expect a deep peak time dj tool for warming the dancefloor, or finishing off! A simple but nagging techy shuffley drum beat gives the whole track a resting point before creating sparse effects and sounds that layer up and uses the vocal to provide a simple hook based formulaic sound.

Yousef provides the remix and to be fair, with his touring and travelling round the globe and international following, his One Night in July remix version has a bubbly bright and almost tripped out psychedelic loop. More funky and groovy with a positive upfront direction and sounds that zzap and laser around with a pensive thoughtful creation that rests down well for long hefty sessions on the dirty warehouse floors. Gritty and looping with more atmospherics it’s a clever re work.
