Modernism, Politburo and Sedition: Matthew Duffield’s manifesto
Written by benz on 24-01-07 21:19 (8724 views) (8 comments)
2006 saw the landscape of London’s club scene change dramatically. Indie clubs flourished, electro infiltrated even the most commercial of nightclub establishments, and afterparties became even more f*cked-up as the minimal plague enveloped London’s most twisted club crack-ons. This year, the revitalisation of the clubbing landscape en masse looks set to continue as more promoters push the boundaries of clubbing, merge different musical scenes, and take more risks to stage events that are truly memorable and exciting. One such promoter is Matthew Duffield, director of the house/electro agency Sedition DJs and now co-director of the newly formed Politburo events company. [Full Story]

Volume: an audio visual experience
Written by Adam Symbiosis on 17-01-07 23:31 (3154 views) (3 comments)
It’s an oft discussed topic here. Diversification. Is this just a music website? Should we only discuss topics of a musical nature? Should we be exposed only to items musically inclined? It’s with these thoughts in mind I considered making a review of Volume for you. It’s not a party, or a single, or even a flyer, but should you still go and see it? [Full Story]

Carlsberg don’t do DJs. But if they did, they’d make Guyver!
Written by MostWantedJc on 17-01-07 21:51 (5725 views) (3 comments)
If you don’t like being green or sick with envy then we suggest you stop reading immediately. Guy Mearns, or Guyver as he’s known to the masses, has already had 10 single releases. Those releases have notched him up an impressive 250,000 single sales. He’s about to unleash his first ever artist album for tidy as ‘The Producer Series: Volume 002’ hits shelves across the UK on February 5th.... [Full Story]

Interview with Paul Glazby
Written by Ru Curthoys on 14-01-07 16:39 (5440 views) (17 comments)
“You know what I like about Paul Glazby? He plays hard, and he looks hard too, he really suits his music.” These sentiments were offered to me by a friend as we watched Mr Glazby play recently, and I could merely nod in agreement. Glazby, like his music, is tough, uncompromising, no-nonsense. Somehow, you really don’t expect Paul Glazby to be the sort of man to tell puns straight out of a kid’s joke-book… [Full Story]

TimeLock — the new wave of psy trance
Written by HarderFaster on 10-01-07 23:18 (7553 views) (1 comment)
One of the new breed of cutting edge psy trance producers coming out of Israel, TimeLock aka Felix Nagorsky is on fire at the moment. After releasing his first artist album on BNE in 2005 — ‘Power Charge’ — he followed it up in 2006 with an incredible compilation, ‘Advance Options’. Now he’s working on a new album, in between playing at some of the top psy trance parties around the world and creating a mysterious new project. Combining psy trance with his love of electro, TimeLock’s influence is obviously widespread, as many of his contemporaries are now imitating his unique electro psy trance sound. HarderFaster was given the rare opportunity to pose some questions to the man himself ahead of his forthcoming live set at the Antiworld International Indoor Festival [Full Story]

Steve Darragh dances with the times
Written by Ru Curthoys on 10-01-07 22:35 (7606 views) (54 comments)
Is it really only four years since London-based after-hours club Twist opened its doors for the first time? Twist is one of those events that you’d expect to always be there, in some form or another. Resident DJs include the legendary Karim, Frantic’s golden girl Cally Gage, Tom Basquil who is making something of a name for himself, the talented Steve Maynard and the addictive Superfast Oz. Whilst they have their individual styles they all contribute to a unique Twist sound that is not available anywhere else in London on a Sunday morning. [Full Story]

Kym Ayres gets the HF grilling for Frantic presents Timeless Romance
Written by benz on 10-01-07 22:34 (7442 views) (19 comments)
2006 saw the old empire of hard dance headliners begin to relinquish their power slightly (whether they liked it or not!) as recent newcomers to the scene saw themselves becoming headliners in their own right. The trend looks set to continue this year, with much-talked about talents such as Kym Ayres breaking through the ranks. Winner of the Eyecon DJ and DJLisaLashes.com DJ competitions and runner-up at the Tidy Weekender DJ competiton, it’s clear that she’s a cut above the rest when it comes to DJ’ing skills. Her first forays into the world of production saw her release a massive 2-tracker on Tidy with the help of Technikal, she’s a resident for the legendary Slinky and she’s just been asked to feature on every single date of the Tidy Boys’ forthcoming Big Night Out Tour. Not bad for a 22 year old! [Full Story]

Family Groove presents London Techno City: snapshots from my first techno party
Written by DJ Mythh on 10-01-07 22:33 (4784 views) (5 comments)
I’d just like to start by saying that this was my first proper techno party ever and I had it on good authority that Family Groove at The Coronet on Saturday 4th November would be one of the best nights to start with. I was a bit dubious to start off with, but when we got in there and I saw there was some funky techno, breaks and the like on both floors and a drum'n'bass room on the top floor, as well as having The Coronet’s all famous balcony open, it looked like it was shaping up to be a good night... Written by Club_Insekt & Jennie B on 10-01-07 02:35 (5465 views) (23 comments)
Andy Farley is a DJ that needs no introduction, having helped shape the sound of hard dance as we know it. A true clubbers’ DJ, Andy is one of the few that has played for all the major promotions, including Trade, Godskitchen, Sundissential, Frantic and Heat. Headlining major festivals such as Creamfields, Global Gathering and Dance Valley, it’s safe to say that Andy has climbed to the top of the mountain. [Full Story]

Introducing Rory McCart ahead of Frantic & Moondance’s free party
Written by benz on 04-01-07 16:50 (6733 views) (9 comments)
Rory McCart’s name has been appearing on flyers all over London since DJ D4RK of Squelcher spotted his talents two years back. His tough European hard trance sound came as a breath of fresh air in a time when the vast majority of DJs in London’s hard dance scene were just playing UK material, and the bold nature of his music grabbed people’s attention like a streaker at a football match. Now with his tasty electro house sound he’s gaining even more fans, and the fact that he doesn’t play the same tunes as every other electro house DJ is definitely helping. We spoke with Rory ahead of his set with D4RK in the hard dance room at Frantic & Moondance’s Free Party at Hidden this Saturday 6th January, to give y’all a taste of what he’s all about...
