So assuming we end up with a hard brexit or whatever what can we potentially gain or recover? I'm thinking specifically in a cultural sense, things that the EU has "stopped" us from doing... what cultural joys will we be able to endulge in now that we have been starved of since 1976?

I'm jsut trying to turn it on it's head a bit because as I'm sure you've noticed I'm pro EU and for me there is a lot more to brexit than immigrants taxes, I know there have been numerous outraged headlines about what the EU has banned or whatever (wonky cucumbers for example) and wondered if there is going to be an influx of outlawed pleasures flooding in to cheer me up.

Ah yeah - bananas particularly had to be a certain size and shape. In fact, fruit and veg in general was supposed to be regulated iro size/appearance until they finally saw sense and realised there was a fuckton of the stuff going to waste.

A-ha - you can always trust the Daily Express:

Cucumbers and bananas should not be bendy

It's illegal to eat your pet horse

Water does NOT prevent dehydration

Prunes will NOT fight your bowel problems

Turnips are NOT swede

Diabetics should be BANNED from the roads

Eggs CANNOT be sold by the dozen

Washing up gloves must be able to handle DETERGENTS

Super vacuum cleaners BANNED

I'm still a bit underwhelmed as I don't think these are going to impact my life.

1. Ridiculous rule on… Tea bags

While pushing for a Brexit, MP Johnson said in his Telegraph column that barmy EU rules mean that “you can’t recycle a tea bag”.

Under EU law, local authorities are allowed to ban the composting of teabags if there are fears over the spread of disease.

For example, Cardiff Council told household not to throw away tea bags in an attempt to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease in 2005.

My head hurts now. Water/dehydration. Suspicious

Also - clearly their journalists don't do the grocery shopping if they think eggs aren't sold by the dozen.

People go on about fruit.& veg having to look a certain way, but I didn't find that in Italy or Spain & I still don't see it in Manchester.

Karma is a beautiful thing.
