Had it on Monday, was told to wait until I'd been here at year.
Gonna look for other jobs.
Why not wait the three months and see what they say? You've already done 9, 3 months isn't that much longer and that way you will also have a full year on your CV, which looks much better.

Sounds like the best thing but don't burn your bridges.
I do think that they (and other in this thread) had a point about waiting a year before asking.
As I hinted earlier in the thread, I suspected that a knock back like this would leave you in a position where you felt you had to leave.
Sorry to hear it's come to that mate!
Suffering from a small case of mood poisoning, must be something I hate.

Initially I was happy to stay for a while but having now discovered that I'm among the lowest paid here and yet have the responsibilities I do, which are essential to the running of the business and was actually the main reason I was hired here initially as their server failed. This combined with the management style, company culture and the fact that the company isn't making much money and is therefore unlikely to be able to give me a wage that reflects my supposed importance to the company means that it's most likely I'll have to move on in order for things to improve.

I maintain infrastructure essential to the smooth operation of this company and at present am having to administer finance on top of that yet I can imagine there are low-level Sainsbury's employees that earn the same if not more than I do.
I understand the point about waiting a year, however at the same time I don't appreciate being taken advantage of, which is blatantly what's happening.
Hell, even the ex-finance manager here said that if I needed a pay bump he'd have a word, as he obviously knew what my job entailed and how busy I generally am - unfortunately he got fucked off with it here and left a month ago, which is why I'm interim finance guy as well as IT support.

While biting your tongue and biding your time is the safe option taken by many (as if being rewarded fairly is a 'dirty' subject), some cases call for you to bring out your inner Bob Crow. If your company is a startup or struggling/growing SME, you can understand the 'let's all chip in for a while' attitude, or a big corporate where you are expected to take the rough with the smooth to advance up the ladder, but taking the proverbial is not uncommon and should be called as such. The solution usually is the door though.
Latex Zebra Yeah, something is probably happening somewhere.

Blueh, you seem massively niave to the way things really work in businesses.
I think it is fair to say that everyone on the Internet is annoying.

Perhaps, however being paid less than pretty much everyone else and having such an apparently important role is cause for annoyance and is a pisstake no matter how you look at it.
It may well be normal practice generally however that doesn't make it right, nor does it mean I should simply 'suck it up'.
I'm sure if started reducing my output to a level more fitting for my pay grade that'd be highlighted in some fashion. Fortunately for these guys that's not how I roll.
