There are some labels in the dance music community that need very little in the way of introduction. Perfecto Fluoro, Armada, Pharmacy..even Lost Language. But there's one label that has been active in the background, casually releasing tracks and throwing them out to you good people out there. Ladies and gents...Dragonfly.
Okay, not the coolest introduction to a review but hey...this is the latest release from Hautacam, a machination from the United Kingdom and Greece. Psytrance is in their bones and Golden Corner is the latest in their wares that include the Catch 23 EP, a remix of Youth's "Saturday Night" and inclusions on Dragonfly's seminal psytrance albums. Its a lot more intense than Liquid Sound Design, the label's softer, more laid-back, arm. But we like that here. We like that very much.
With an original and four remixes to choose from, Golden Corner really does offer a little something for everyone. The mechanical poise of the Original Mix gives way to a full-on journey of epic psytrance for 9 minutes. Gabriel La Mer fires off a beast under his PsyTechProject alias, there's a solidly epic remix from Tron who punches the shit out of the dancefloor and both Kuba and Steve Self bring up the rear with psy and techy flavours.
The Dragonfly camp makes a storming return to the dancefloor and no messing. Favourite mix for me? Its a tossup between the Original and Tron's mix. All of them are great though so I just can't choose. DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!
PS: I chose the Tron mix.
