Background
Ben Steven has been Glen's Inspiration and mentor on his journey from Bedroom Dj to club Dj.
Glenraath started mixing about seven years ago inspired by the likes of Ben Stevens, Paul Glazby, Andy Farley and Karim. He decided he wanted to be able to make the crowd respond like they did.
Lucky for him he had the best teacher in the business! Mr Ben Stevens.
With Ben's help and many hours of Chopping together in Ben's Studio Glen Quickly made the transition from the Bedroom to Club's where he started to make a name for himself on Leeds & Bradford Club scene. Parlez-Vous? in Bradford has also been a massive influence in Glenraath’s Dj career, he gained a residency at Parlez-Vous back in 2007 and never fails to deliver the goods when he is behind the decks at this fantastic small club. Sadly Glen played his last ever set at the late great PV on Dec 5th 2009 B2B with good friend Matt Pickup as we said goodbye to Parlez-Vous and a massive chapter in Glen’s Dj journey closed, a new one opens.
Glen has also been busy co producing tracks with JBW who is respected and regarded as one of the most talented producers in the industry at the moment.
With Glen’s ideas and JBW's Experience they have produced the amazing Cat In A Hat, signed to Contact Recordings and was the first in the Glenraath & JBW collection of next level hard house music, with it's funky chunky bass lines and hard driving pace. Launched in London by no other than Ben Stevens @ the we love VC tour in 2005 it was an instant hit on the dance floor all over the uk.
Next came Bass Addicts, this was more of the same pounding driving filth but had a surprising piano riff in the breakdown taken from a classic bouncy hard house track Bass Heavy, again an instant hit on the dance floor. This track was very quickly snapped up by Matt Pickup and signed to his Risup Digital label.
Next in the BW & Raath collection is Desire! A more haunting track with lots of flowing tones a pounding bass line and fantastic vocal riff in the middle, yet another masterpiece that deserves to be in every DJ's bag!
The latest in the BW Raath collection is Freedom! Another pounding baseline with perfect harmonies and tones to set the dance floor on fire it comes as no surprise then that this track along with Desire was signed to Fireball digital and is now available to download.
Future Plans
Glenraath is a name that is fast becoming a brand and with bookings well into 2010 we should be seeing a lot more of his Filthy yet funky chunky style of mixing in more and more venues across the UK.
April 3rd 2010 will see Glen Kick off the night in the Hi Octane Vs VC arena at the massive Insomz @ Magna although Glen loves to rinse the shit out of it, Glen is looking forward to showing people that he can be diverse and play warm up as well as Nail out filth. “It will be filthy but in a different way”
